The food pantry is a crucial resource for various members of the community, from young single mothers to grandparents raising grandchildren, to individuals facing unemployment or financial hardships due to unexpected expenses or high costs of living. The pantry is open 24/7 for visitors to come anytime and help themselves with the things that they need for their family.
This contribution from our church fulfills the teachings found in Galatians 2:10 and Proverbs 14:31 which reminds us of the importance of remembering and assisting the poor as a way of honouring God.
This Christmas in the Park event in Darra is hosted by our church every year. An evening for all the families in the community to come together to enjoy gospel music, Christmas carols, Nativity play and a short message of Hope. Also, we have free used good clothing, free BBQ, food stalls, games and activities to bless our community.
We host movie night at our church to connect with both our current church members, and our local community. It is a fun, family-friendly event to share the love of Jesus Christ in our community. During this event we bless the children in our community with free popcorn and drink and much more.
HIM Revival Church has participated in an outreach program for widows and orphans who live in remote villages near Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu state in India. Our local Pastors in Cuddalore are Gideon and Excellency who have done great work in facilitating the program. We have raised funds to train 33 poor women in the trade of tailoring. At the end of the course, each shall receive a new Singer manual sewing machine. Each of our trainees has been taught to sew to a very high standard. In their own communities, they shall own their own tailoring business. These ladies shall have greater prospects for prosperity, family unity and contributions to their community.
At the start of their course, the candidates all suffered from depression. As they progressed, they saw a hope for the future, and all without exception were freed from depression. Some reported improvements to their physical health as well. The participants were from a range of religions, with many being Hindu and one or two Muslims.
The local church was vitally involved, and the widows and orphans joined in with many of the Christian activities, including feeding programs. This course has influenced the local community in a very positive way.
